U.S. History- Exploration to the Present

Eleventh Grade Social Studies will cover the history of the United States from Exploration to the Civil War during 1st Semester and the Reconstruction Period  to the present day during 2nd Semester. The Learners will use a variety of documents, texts, and articles to promote mastery of social studies knowledge.  As a class, we will read, analyze, and discuss many points of history as well as opinions. The Learners will demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension of U.S. History through graded quizzes, tests, projects, and various in-class assignments. Concepts
that will be learned include:  Identification of major U.S. eras, Economic issues in America, U.S.
foreign policies, the Nation’s involvement in WWI and WWII, Civil Rights, and much more.

There is not a textbook, but the Howard Zinn book would be helpful.
